Lab Experiments
The measurement and instrumentation class had a series of labs meant to expose students to a range of measurement techniques. The intent here was to expose them to techniques beyond those needed for their individual research project. During the lab sections, my responsibilities as Lab Prof included:
Review lab progress at key milestones to gauge understanding of the experiment and physics.
Debug instrumentation issues that arose during the implementation of the lab
-
Measure velocity profile of laminary and turbulent flow
Instruments: Pitot Tube, Hot-Wire Anemometer
-
Measure operational characteristics and specifications of DC motors
Instruments: Optical Tachometer, Pony Brake Dynanometer
-
Objective: Use an interferometer to measure small changes in the distance created by a driven voice coil motor.
Select instruments/Components: oscilloscope, photodetector, interferometer, voice coil motor
-
Objective: create a lumped second order transfer function of system. Compar model parameters to those determined from measured system response to swept sine input and step function
Select Instruments: Oscilloscope
